Community Service Projects
Ongoing Community Service Projects: There is an ongoing need
for diapers, formula, board games, drawing paper, your used magazines or kids
magazines, any arts and crafts supplies, seasonal needs and even decorations for
shelters for holidays. All donations are appreciated!! Diapers can be opened
packages of diapers. Angela will be available to pick up these items at the
meetings as well. We will also continue to collect cell phones to be reconditioned/reprogrammed
and distributed to women and families at risk of domestic abuse. Feel free to contact
the Community
Service Coordinator if you have something that you think
could be donated to someone.
More donation ideas: If you (or a family member) works for a company that is
having an event and has promotional items with their logos distributed to
employees (often a lot left over), these are always appreciated. Things such as
water bottles, T-shirts, sweat shirts, mugs, even pencils are great donations.
New Donation Drop-off: The Lowell Wish Project has a drop-off location
for CMC members wishing to donate items between meetings. This location
is at the Wish Project's storage unit at 3 Foundry Street, Lowell (off Plain
Street). For drop-off details and times, contact the Project's founder Donna
Hunnewell at HunnewellDonna@hotmail.com or visit
www.lowellwishproject.org for a
list of urgent wishes, upcoming drives, and more.
Important Information for Members with Businesses
While the club guidelines do not permit direct solicitation of members for
personal business, a table is reserved at our general meetings for CMC members
to share their business cards or other materials about a business or service
they have to offer. Use of the Members' Business Table is limited to members
only. Business literature should be displayed before the general meeting, and
any remaining literature after the meeting should be removed as we have no
storage available for the items. If you have any questions about the Members'
Business Table, please contact a
CMC board member.
Additionally, members with businesses are encouraged to advertise their products and services
in the CMC Business Directory.
Lending Library
Our Lending Library is a wonderful resource for all of our members. It contains books on various parenting issues,
from infant care to toilet
training to arts and crafts suggestions for toddlers. In order to allow all
of our members to benefit from this great resource, we have a few rules for our Lending Library.
One "old" rule that we are planning to enforce is that only CMC members may check out books.
We are not looking to exclude our guests or prospective members; it's just that it is almost impossible to
keep track of the books if a non-member is borrowing them. The new rule is
that we are only going to allow our members to check out up to two books for
two months.
If anyone has any suggestions for the Lending Library, please contact the
CMC Librarian.
In-a-Pinch
In-a-Pinch is a service for Mothers in-a-pinch. We provide up to 3 meals (or
more if there are extenuating circumstances)
and run light errands for CMC moms who have just given birth or who have a
major family crisis.
In-a-Pinch is made up of volunteers who are mothers, and we should give them
all a round of applause!!! Thank you to everyone who has willingly signed
up and provided meals this past year. The
only way we are able to offer this wonderful service is if we have the
volunteers to do it. We are
requesting that anyone (even if you have signed up in the past) sign up to
volunteer for one or two meals over the next year.
If you are willing to volunteer, contact the
In-a-Pinch
Coordinator or sign up at the general meetings. Also if you are in need of
the service, contact the
In-a-Pinch Coordinator.
