MEMBER BENEFITS
Membership in the Chelmsford Mothers' Club includes many benefits including
the following:
General meetings
include a number of
different themes and
topics such as
Children's
Nutrition,
Children's Literacy,
and Child Safety.
We also schedule
meetings that focus
on mom-related
issues like
"Surviving the
Super-Mom Syndrome"
and Nutrition and
Fitness for Moms.
Each year, we also
host a Preschool
Fair, Activities
Fair,
and several social
potluck meetings to
encourage our
members to socialize
and share
information and
ideas.

Third Wednesday
of each month at
6:45 p.m.
(Refreshments and
chat followed
by program at 7:30
p.m.)
Location:
Little Sprouts
Daycare Center,
900
Chelmsford Street,
Lowell, MA
Playgroups
are a means for mothers
and their children
to get together
with other mothers
and their children
on a regular basis.
The club offers Playgroup
Guidelines, but
each playgroup
devises its own
meeting schedule,
meeting location,
and rules.
Playgroups are a
wonderful way for
moms to socialize
and for children to
meet new playmates
and develop social
skills.
Our
Playgroup
Coordinator assists
placing members in
playgroups. A
sign-up sheet is
available at each
CMC monthly meeting,
or contact the
Playgroup
Coordinator for
more information
about playgroup
sign-up.
The
Chelmsford
Mothers’ Club
plans daytime
activities for our
members to attend
with their children.
Trips are planned to
indoor play-places,
such as Perpetual
Motion; local
playgrounds in the
warmer weather;
museums, such as the
Hands-On-Art Museum
and the Children’s
Metamorphosis
Museum; fruit
picking farms; and
local
establishments, such
as the fire station.
These activities
offer an opportunity
for our members to
take their children
on fun, educational,
and safe outings. In
addition, these
events allow our
members to socialize
and get to know each
other better.
Transportation
to the activities
and any associated
entrance fees are
the responsibility
of the member. With
large enough groups,
we are often
eligible for group
discounts. Any child
attending an
activity must be
accompanied by a
member.
Children’s
Activities are
advertised in the
Newsletter, at the
General Meetings, by
email announcement,
and posted on our
members-only
website.
Moms need to have
fun too! The
Chelmsford Mothers’
Club plans various
events for moms to
get out, relax and
socialize with other
club members.
Activities may
include Saturday
morning breakfasts,
our Annual Mothers’
Day Brunch, and Moms
Night Out (such as
pottery nights,
bowling, and trips
to Boston).
Moms
Night Out Events are
advertised in the
Newsletter, at the
General Meetings, by
email announcement,
and posted on our
members-only
website.
Email Discussion
List
One key benefit that
many members of the
club find extremely
valuable is our
email discussion
list, which has
recently moved to
Big Tent (www.bigtent.com). Members may
post questions and
ask for advice from
other moms via the
group email list.
This easy access to
support from other
members not only
helps members make
connections, but
also gives them
helpful responses
from our wonderful,
caring and
supportive
community. Members
may opt-out of the
email list at any
time, but nearly all
choose to remain
connected to this
valuable resource.
Members may also
post items for sale
or request needed
items in the
Marketplace on our
members-only Big
Tent site.
Member Discounts
Our members are able
to take advantage of
a variety of
member discounts
offered by local
businesses,
including daycare
centers, preschools,
music lessons,
clothing, etc.
Discount information
is located on our
members-only Big
Tent website.
Family Fun Book
Members are entitled
to one copy of the
Family Fun Book
at a discounted
price of $8.00.
The Family Fun
Book is a guide
to local activities
for families with
young children.
With more than 240
entries, it's a
great reference for
planning all kinds
of outings. It
includes not only
detailed information
about each location,
but precise
directions,
information about
restroom/diaper-changing
facilities,
admission fees,
hours, stroller
accessibility and
much more!
Plus, there are over
$250 in valuable
coupon savings at
all your favorite
venues! See
sample pages on our
Family Fun Book
page.
The
CMC boasts a
wonderful lending
library that
provides educational
and reference
material to members
free of charge. Our
library includes
books on various
subjects such as
pregnancy,
childbirth,
childcare and
development,
parenting, crafts,
health and
nutrition. Books are
displayed at most
General Meetings for
members' browsing
pleasure, and may be
checked out for two
months at a time.
For a complete list
of all the books in
our Lending Library,
see the
Lending
Library index.
The
In-A-Pinch Program
is one of the many
ways that we, as a
club, reach out and
help our fellow
members. It is a
service available to
any mom who has had
a major change in
her family, like the
birth of a baby, or
who is undergoing
other stressful
circumstances and
could use a hand
preparing meals and
running small
errands. If you or
another mom in the
club you know are in
need of these
services, please
contact the
In-a-Pinch
Coordinator.
If
you are able to
volunteer for the
In-A-Pinch Program
by either preparing
a meal or running an
errand, a sign-up
sheet is available
at each CMC monthly
meeting. You may
also contact the
In-a-Pinch
Coordinator to
volunteer.
Members may sign up
to sell their
gently-used
children's items
(clothing, toys,
nursery items and
gear such as
strollers) at the
club's Kids Tag
Sales, which we plan
on holding twice a
year in the spring
and fall.
Sellers receive up
to 90% of the sales
price of their items
and also may attend
the seller preview
hour to get first
choice on all the
great deals.
Sellers pay a small
fee and must donate
a few hours as part
of the sales staff.
The
Chelmsford Mothers
Club publishes a
newsletter for its
members on a
bi-monthly basis.
The newsletter
includes information
about upcoming
events and meetings,
general CMC club
news, reviews of
books in our lending
library, feature
articles from club
members, and more.
The
Newsletter Editor
welcomes
contributions from
CMC members whether
an article or simply
a suggestion for one
of the regular
monthly columns.
The
CMC Newsletter
offers advertising
to members and
non-members on a
space available
basis.
download more
information and the
CMC Newsletter
Advertising Policy
(MS Word .doc
format).
Members may include
a business listing
on the club web site
for free. The
listing will appear
under the
“classifieds”
heading on the
public section of
the site. You may
include a 25 word
description, plus
the business name,
URL and phone
number. Members may
also include family
or spouse-owned
business listings
for $20/year.
Members must renew
their listing
annually or it will
be removed. For more
information, please
review our Business
Directory
listing policies
or download an
application.
There
are many volunteer
positions available
within the club,
which give our
members a wonderful
opportunity for
personal growth.
Although
volunteering is not
a requirement for
membership, it is
strongly encouraged.
Our staff of
volunteer officers
and coordinators are
the back-bone of the
club; they are the
people who make
changes and
improvements in the
organization which
are integral to the
growth and
well-being of the
club. If you
are interested in
finding out more
about volunteer
opportunities,
please contact any
board member.
