ABOUT THE CHELMSFORD MOTHERS' CLUB
The Chelmsford
Mothers' Club was
founded in 1996 by a
small group of women
who saw a need for a
community resource
that would help ease
the transitions new
mothers face while
raising infants and
young families.
During the last
decade, the club has
grown from a handful
of members to more
than 250. Members
include residents of
Chelmsford
and surrounding
towns, including
Lowell, Billerica,
Tyngsboro, Dunstable,
Tewksbury, Acton,
and Westford.
Members do not have
to reside in
Chelmsford; we
welcome members from
all communities.
The club’s purpose
is to help mothers
of infants,
toddlers,
preschoolers and
even elementary aged
children feel
supported and
connected as they
make their journey
into motherhood.
We encourage
pregnant woman to
join so they can
meet other new moms
in the area and make
connections before
their baby arrives.
Our membership
includes
stay-at-home
mothers, mothers who
work full-time or
part-time outside
the home, as well as
a number of mothers
who have home
businesses. We try
to support working
moms as much as
possible, including
scheduling Mom’s
Night Out on the
weekends or in the
evening.
The club provides
member-to-member
support in the form
of monthly meetings. One
key benefit of our
club is the
playgroups. Our
Playgroup
Coordinator assists
in placing new
members into
playgroups according
to their child’s age
and schedule. It is
then up to the
individual playgroup
members to schedule
the playgroup
meetings and
locations. We also
have several
“special interest”
playgroups in
response to members’
needs, such as a
weekend playgroup
for working moms and
an “English as a
second language”
playgroup, when
needed.
The Chelmsford
Mothers' Club is a
non-profit
volunteer-run
organization
concerned with
current issues and
matters relating to
young families.
The Club is
non-political,
non-partisan,
non-sectarian, and
does not endorse
issues and/or
candidates.
Our mission
continues as our
founders intended –
to be a support
group for mothers,
but as we continue
to grow, we make
every effort to
adapt and meet the
changing needs of
our membership. We
welcome and
encourage input from
our members so that
the Chelmsford
Mothers' Club can be
a place where we all
feel safe and
supported.
